Artist spotlight: Willy Verginer

Willy Verginer is an Italian artist who utilizes woodcarving as his medium. His life-sized works are very realistic sculptures of people and animals, with an addition of a simplistic layer of color. They are entirely carved from one piece of linen wood; then painted with acrylic paint. The work is very surreal and puts his figures in very odd positions with unexpected gestures and objects. His use of color contradicts the realism and places the work into an alternate dream world. (All artwork is copyright of the artist).
