Call to Artists/Film makers


Call to Artists:

Sunshine Shorts: an all Florida
Film Festival sponsored by the
John D. MacArthur Campus Library
Gallery at Florida Atlantic University.

Guidelines:

Deadline for submission is August 25, 2007. Anything received after that will be held for the following year.

Entry Information:

FREE. There are no applications or entry fees.

Short Films and Videos:

Projects may not be longer than 10 minutes in length.

Student Film/Videos:

We are open to all film/ video/ and conceptual artists including STUDENTS of all ages. Entrants must be residents of Florida.

Format of Film/Video:

All entries should be sent on DVD in NTSC format. Other media will not be considered.

We are unable to present Films/Videos that charge a fee for viewing:
We offer:
presentation of film to large audience
listing in program
inclusion on website/blog
event publicity throughout South Florida
Selected entries will receive copies of press releases and a printed program

This event IS juried:

Send a copy of your DVD in NTSC format to the John D. MacArthur Campus Library, with a brief description (one – three sentences that can be used for web). Include the running time of project, and your CONTACT information, including email address, phone number and mailing address. There is NO fee.

The jury process consists of two rounds. The first round of jurors is comprised of Library committee staff. The second round of jurors will be professors from Florida Atlantic University. This year, Dr. Mark Tunick and TBD. If chosen you will be asked to provide a still image in digital format (.jpeg) via email for the web. If selected, you give Florida Atlantic University permission to make copies for promotional purposes. Your copy will become the property of the library. The tapes will not leave the library in order to protect the copyright of the artist. All copyright is held by the artist. Tapes not chosen will be destroyed or sent back to artist IF a self-addressed stamped envelope is included with entry.

Notification of Jury Results:

All entries will receive notification of jury results by the first week of October. This is a long process so please be patient.

Awards to be won: (3)

Viewer’s Choice Award (one)

The night of the festival, the audience will be asked to vote for their favorite film or video with a ballot they receive on their programs. Votes are counted that night. The next day the winner will be announced on the exhibit’s blog.

Juror’s Choice Award (one) will be given and announced the night of the festival.

The FAU Outstanding Student Film Award will be given for the best project from one Florida Atlantic student, (all campuses).

The awards are in NAME ONLY. NO MONEY will be awarded.

Date of Festival:

The festival is an annual event, taking place in October of each year.
DEADLINE for entry is August 25th.

Only a short time left for MacART!

"Shadow Play" K. Smith (First Place, student division)

If you haven't already seen this year's MacArt Exhibit, there is still time. The show runs until May 10th. But hurry, there is some great work you won't want to miss.

The show is in two locations, the MacArthur Campus Library and the SR Atrium.

Also, coming soon: Denise Moody-Tackley, winner of the Palm Beach Cultural Consortium Award.
May 15 - August 11, 2007. Stayed tuned for a sneak peak of some of her work.
