Call to artist

Call to Artist

The John D. MacArthur Campus Library Gallery of Florida Atlantic University is seeking exhibition proposals for the 2010-2011 season. All mediums (except performance) are accepted. Solo or two person exhibition proposals are being considered. Shows run for 2.5-3 months. This is an alternative space, so please review the information below before submitting your work. We are seeking challenging conceptual work that tackles current topics and creative use of mediums.

Deadline:
Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2010. Notifications may take 3-4 months after the deadline.

Fee:
There are no fees for submission.

Space restrictions:

The space is an open 20 x 20’ space. The walls are white, but divided by windows. There is one 10 x10’ wall, plus 9 (nine) walls that are 4 x 10’ so most of the work (if 2d) has to be no larger than 4 feet in width. Ceilings are 20’ tall, so are not accessible.

If you have 3d work, no pedestals are provided. Work must be freestanding or you provide pedestal.

The carpet is slate blue with square print.

The work has to hang from a rod system. No holes in the walls. 2d work must be wired.

Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the gallery, plus any insurance while on display. The library does not provide insurance, however we take great care in protecting the works while in our custody. You MUST include return shipping with the work.

Guidelines:
1. Email submissions only. You may attach jpegs, pdfs or word documents.
2. You may send a link to a website to view images.
3. Include cover letter, artist statement, contact information (email and phone).
More info will be requested if we choose your proposal.
4. The work exhibited must be the work submitted, unless we make special arrangements.
